NOTES: LOW IN SWAMPY AREA IN ALDERS. 1 MALE(S) LNS Note: Unbroken cut with internal recordist announcement/handling noise gain change (MJA, 14Feb2005). BNA: [Two distinct song-types are represented here. Unlike the dichotomy pictured in Figure 2 of the BNA account, the songs in this recording either have or completely lack pure tones. In the first part of this recording, the bird alternated between songs ending in pure tones (0:05 0:21, and 0:29) and those lacking them altogether (0:01, 0:11, 0:20, 0:27). All four songs in the second part (0:35-0:44) lacked pure tones. The text of the account is too weak to assess whether this is the true dichotomy in this species' songs, but the spectrograms that I examined suggest that there is far more here than the subtle distinction between songs beginning with pure tones or not. "Check"calls were given throughout this recording, as were sharper calls that were apparently also given by the singing bird (this call is not mentioned in BNA). Quality changed from 2-3 to 2 - CAM - 19 January 2005]. Other Behaviors: Court. Habitat: Deciduous Forest, Swamp.
