Observation details
First seen ca 1124 in flight over the E ponds in reach 3, ca 3x shrub height. Began circling, mostly gliding with a series of flaps ca every revolution. By 1127, it had gained substantial altitude and then it glided off to the SW on set wings, into the distance. Head appeared rather small and somewhat short, but I had ample time to observe wingbeats, which came from base of wing (stiff). Wings rather long, too, and tail with notable white band at tip. Based on seemingly small size and my initial uncertainty of whether it was really a COHA or a SSHA, I suspect it was a male.
