Observation details
At first I though this hawk might be a Cooper's. However, noticeably large. Flying low through backyards of the neighborhood. Hunting. Flushed a flock of 55 starlings. About 15 min later, it flew right over my head. Because it was so close, I noticed a bold light stripe over the eye without my binoculars. Could not get my camera out fast enough until it had passed. The flight pattern was typical of goshawks in the area. They fly straight up the canyon in a deliberate manner. Other hawk species don't seem to follow this flight pattern.
