Observation details
Holy ****!!!! We were driving just past the curve on Old Samoa Rd and a small white bird flew onto a toolshed near the Old Samoa Rd and Samoa Blvd (Rt. 255) junction. The Snow Bunting called, flew down onto the road and hopped up along a fence moving toward us within 15 feet until a farm cat scarred it. It then flew southeast across the fields and out of view. (40.8669822, -124.1350710) Appears to be a 1st Year female with dark streaking on the light gray and tan back. The extent of black on the tail tip along with brown on the upper tail appear to rule out the McKay's Bunting. We are not experts at ID'ing Snow and McKay's Buntings. If anyone has input, please let us know.
