NOTES: This recording began with rustling as bird moved through dense growth of Coffeeberry (Rhamnus californica) in small draw below Rattlesnake Flats Trail about 300 m from parking lot; same family group as above recording (cut #05-RDAT05-04), but not necessarily the same bird calling; I suspect the bird singing at the end was the same individual as that in previous cut; at first, no apparent response to playback and Òspishing,Ó but bird slowly approached, began calling, then giving partial songs, and eventually full song; at end of this recording, bird was 15 m away and 2 1/2 m up in Coyote Brush (Baccharis pilularis); intermittently breezy, now possibly an onshore breeze; this is an unbroken cut with two internal announcements; the first part has calls, the last songs. [This recording begins with distant and later closer examples of the "Churrip" or "Hreek" Call of BNA (mostly before 1:17), followed by the song after the internal announcement (2:30-4:51). Quality unchanged (2, 1-2) - CAM - 21 October 2005]. Other Behaviors: Advertise. Habitat: Evergreen Forest, Chaparral.
