Observation details
Rarity, seen by many this evening. Apparently first found yesterday. Refound today. I got there in time to enjoy it at close range for about 30 seconds before it flew off with a Greater Yellowlegs at dusk. The white wedge on the back really stands out, as do all the other classic fieldmarks such as reddish-orange legs, slight downward slant to beak tip, strong white supercilium. I originally thought dark feathers were retained alternate feathers, but seeing other's close photos it looks like a young bird. I wish I had a longer view to watch and learn about its behavior, but I'm glad I got to see it briefly.
