Observation details
New bird for me. I saw the birds and had no idea what they were. Got a good look with my new binoculars and got some pictures. I was confused because Merlin suggested European Starling but the description said yellow beak and these birds had dark beaks. But after I got home I finally found some descriptions that clarified that the beak is yellow in breeding birds but can be darker other times. I also didn't really appreciate any iridescence on the birds I saw but it was overcast with poor lighting because the power lines were between two buildings. But again I found info about how the iridescence is less prominent in non-breeding birds. They sat quite still the whole time I was there so was able to get a good count.
