Observation details
Small, thick-billed grebe. White undertail coverts. General coloration light brown with darker highlights. Pale bill. Seen well, for 30 minutes, through Leica 50X scope on far (north) side of lake. Viewed from access road near Homer Tribune. May be first documented record for Kenai Peninsula, though there is a reference to a PBGR seen June 4, 1977 near Ingram Creek (wetlands near Portage along Seward Highway).
