Observation details
Excellent views of three singing from fairly open perches (one on a woven fence!) but sometimes from more concealed perches with more leaf cover. The remainder were heard singing but not seen. Plumage was largely as expected. Overall greyer and paler than nominate. Wing coverts with fairly narrow pale fringing, although I couldn't discern pale fringing to the uppertail coverts - perhaps this is only apparent in fresh plumage? Indistinct supercilium which was more apparent when the bird was facing me rather than in profile. I also noted the gape and inside of the mouth was pinkish rather than the golden yellow typical of ssp. megarhynchos. Song with slower tempo and less melodic than ssp. megarhynchos thus a little reminiscent of Thrush Nightingale.
