Observation details
Heard unusual chickadee squeak call at alpine/ tree line, in short bushy conifer area. Then saw small tit with a dark chin and white racing stripe on its head, grayish body and back, quite distinct from the common chestnut-backed chickadee. Slight buff wash on undersides and lower sides. whitish edging on folded wing. It was popping out for brief looks as I "spished", then would go behind thick branches. Played brief MOCH call on my phone and out popped two mountain chickadees..! And it seemed that a third was in the bush! Claiming two here since this was certain, but its most likely there were three. They were flocking with a junco and kinglet.
