Chukar
Observation details
continuing from last night; E Contessa Cir (E of Greenwood) // The Chukar quintet spent the night in a hug-fest by our front door. Keith was reading the morning paper, when he heard the Chukars chatting in the back yard. At 6:58a.m., they trotted across the front yard and cul-de-sac, heading to the nearby power tower greenway which is on the N side of E Contessa Cir. The Chukars moved in sync like members of a beehive soccer team, with a bouncy high-stepping gait that sets them apart from the local Gambel's Quail. At the E end of the cul-de-sac, they moved around the end of the block fence and stayed along the fence line as they slowly headed east down the greenway. At 7:23 a.m., we drove Poppa to the end of the cul-de-sac to show him the guests. By then, the Chukars had crossed the small retention basin and were now E of Calle Largo (first road E of cited cul-de-sac). They were still hugging the southern edge of the greenway. We left at this point and did not observe the Chukars further.
