NOTES: Song and calls after playback of themselves (cut #97-09-04); birds were now within 10 m and low (<2 m up) in dense undergrowth of terra firme forest; response to playback was apparently a quiet approach with a few calls; I never did see them clearly; basically clear, calm, low 70s; BP-2 in flat position. LNS: Subject changed from Hypocnemis cantator to Hypocnemis sp. (either H. striata or H. cantator) based on location by Morton Isler. --Jay McGowan 20Aug2012 ML: Background subject changed from recordist's original identification of Ramphastos tucanus cuvieri to Ramphastos tucanus to conform to eBird Taxonomy (v. 1.55). -Jay McGowan/Matt Medler, July 2015. Other Behaviors: Mate, Advertise. Habitat: Rainforest, Evergreen Forest.
