NML studies. 1. NML, 1952-1964. Over fifty young and adults (to 0.3 m). During hauling of trawls, many swelled rapidly, producing long bursts of creaking erk-erks while remaining inflated. In captivity over long periods, similar defense inflation with coincident scrapes and erks on MS and low, dull thumps on ES. (Fish, M.P. and W.H. Mowbray. 1970.
