Media notes
Bird maintained this pointed-wing shape while soaring .
Observation details
Juvenile Mississippi Kite. Encountered migrating N to S north of the fort. Based on the starling reaction, soaring in circles, and long tail I expected it to be a Cooper's, but obviously too pointy-winged even in full soar. Backlit, though I noticed some wide barring on tail and it appeared to have streaking on breast. Discounted peregrine (one migrated over earlier). Did not exhibit powerful flight or classic "anchor shape" while soaring. Photo is representative of shape maintained while soaring in circles.
