NOTES: 42 (37/5) songs and one long call of BIRD #2 recorded at 5:58:06; this cut began at 5:45:25 am, after missing an unknown number of songs getting onto bird, which began singing at 5:44:40 am; bird was very high up, apparently 35 meters above the ground, and over my head in the same area where it sang the previous evening; despite my being right up under the bird, the angle was bad and the insect noise was exceptionally bad this morning; the short calls, and some of the long calls were from a second bird (one long-call was given by the bird on axis); bird moved at 5:57:10; recorded on north side of road to house and Rio Barra Seca, 250-300 meters east of Estrada do Gave¿ [19¡ 04Õ 21" S, 39¡, 53Õ 47" W]; dense overcast, calm, mid 70s; some rain between 10:30 pm and 12:00 am the previous night. ML: Subject changed from recordist's original identification of Xiphorhynchus guttatus guttatus to Xiphorhynchus guttatus [guttatus Group] to conform to eBird Taxonomy (v. 1.55). -Jay McGowan/Matt Medler, July 2015. Other Behaviors: Advertise. Habitat: Rainforest, Evergreen Forest.
