NOTES: 148 songs and two long calls of BIRD #4 recorded at 6:52:41; this cut began at 6:12:55 am, after I missed eight to ten songs changing tape when the previous cut ended at 6:10:54 am; bird was now 35 meters away and 25 meters up; bird moved at 6:14:30 am, with my getting back onto it at 6:15:44 am after missing five songs, with it now 30-35 meters away and 25 meters up; recorded along NW edge of reserve on both sides of perimetral road, 200-300 meters NE of road into the Sooretama Reserve [19¡ 04Õ 22" S, 39¡ 57Õ 06" W]; this cut includes a very long series of notes with several songs run-together, seemingly elicited by the long calls of a second bird; the bird crossed the road to the south side but was the same distance and height, but it then moved back into the forest on the south side, now nearly 50 meters away; break in tape at 6:24:22 am; bird gave another song at 6:25:18 am, with tape beginning again at 6:26:30 am, with bird 50-75 meters in on south side of road and 40-45 meters away at top of tall tree; the bird flew again at 6:31:06 am, after which, I missed four songs getting back onto it at 6:31:54 am; the bird then went quiet at 6:38:32 am (up to this it was 30-35 meters away and 30 meters up); tape began again at 6:39:45 am, after I missed two songs; the bird was now 25-30 meters away and 25 meters up but it went quiet yet again at 6:48:01 am, with tape beginning again at 6:49:28 am, after missing another three songs; bird was still in the same spot in a densely vegetated, canopy tree; continues onto next reel as #99-122-01; partly cloudy, calm, 75¡ F; (7/2//16/9/5/4//20//34//34//17 Ð single slash indicates movement, double indicates break in tape). ML: Subject changed from recordist's original identification of Xiphorhynchus guttatus guttatus to Xiphorhynchus guttatus [guttatus Group] to conform to eBird Taxonomy (v. 1.55). -Jay McGowan/Matt Medler, July 2015.
