NOTES: Unseen bird was 35-40 meters away and high up in canopy; weather conditions same as in previous cut, but it began raining within five minutes of when I recorded this cut, and continued to do so for about the next 30 hours straight; same area where previous cut was recorded, 400-500 meters short of house along road from Estrada do Gave¿ to the Rio Barra Seca, in some of the tallest forest seen on the reserve (with a canopy of approximately 30 meters in height); the bird seemed to call more in response to playback than it did naturally, but given the rain, I did not stick around to see if it approached; full, dense overcast; intermittent drizzle early on, but rain began soon after this cut was recorded; calm; 78¡ F; thunder in background of this cut. ML: Background subject changed from recordist's original identification of Xiphorhynchus guttatus guttatus to Xiphorhynchus guttatus [guttatus Group] to conform to eBird Taxonomy (v. 1.55). -Jay McGowan/Matt Medler, July 2015. Other Behaviors: Advertise. Habitat: Rainforest, Evergreen Forest.
