NOTES: Song and calls recorded in two parts at 6:18 and 6:26; songs of two birds, initially natural, then after playback; bird on axis was initially 20-25 meters away, later 10-12 meters away; recorded at tree-fall gap amid good, terra firme forest on plateau to the southwest of lodge; apparently two males, one seen relatively well after approach to tape playback; bird was typically 4-6 meters up; not easily seen due to low light levels; approach with the same song given more frequently after playback; dense overcast, calm, 78-79¡ F. ML: Background subject changed from recordist's original identification of Ramphastos tucanus cuvieri to Ramphastos tucanus to conform to eBird Taxonomy (v. 1.55). -Jay McGowan/Matt Medler, July 2015.
