Observation details
Four Common Terns--two adults and two immatures--were observed foraging with a large congregation of Caspian Terns and Mew and Glaucous-winged Gulls at West Point at approximately 10:00am. The Common Terns were far smaller and more buoyant than the adjacent Caspian Terns and had much thinner bills. The adults' bills were redder than those of the Caspian Terns and black-tipped. The immatures were greyish overall with dark bills and partial facial masks. Photos were only taken of the adults.
