Observation details
First heard the very loud squeak call that reminded me of BHGR but seemed much thinner, higher and squeakier. The bird briefly sang twice, a strange jumbled grosbeak type song. I never could get a clear visual on the bird, but as it flew over the tops of the willows I could get a sense of the size and shape. The bird was the right size for a grosbeak, a chunky larger passerine, a little more compact that an AMRO, with somewhat broad wings and a longish tail. The bird flew with a few quick flaps over the tops of the trees and into the pond area. I was unable to relocate the bird and I did not hear it calling again as I continued to bird the area. I was able to get 2 recordings.
