Observation details
**early Picked up in flight over the cormorant rock, landed out in the gull flock for a few seconds, then continued north. First view was a dark duck with pale belly and a long white bar at the rear of the wing (speculum but continuing further out), couldn't place it at all until it landed. Eventually clicked as Aythya, but it was really distant at that point. Followed with the camera when it took off again but lost it as it gained just enough height that the background was the tree line and not the pond. Scanned the rest of the pond several times after that but never saw it again. Probably can make it scaup sp, don't think there's enough detail here to say more.
