Observation details
First heard over the field, reach 4, ca 0715. At 0735, I saw a flock of 6 fly over the start point area, headed SE. Ca 1000, 2 seen in an alder near one of the ponds in reach 3, then they dropped down to bare disturbed earth nearby before flying upstream. At 1040, there were still PISI in the vicinity of the diversion. I had not seen or heard them continuously during this time, but occasionally I would hear bursts of calls and see groups fly in or out. For several minutes, I watched 2 foraging on a bare, disturbed, sloping bank of earth with a few early-fallen alder leaves on it, at the edge of the pond near the diversion (photos). Estimated 8 or more in the vicinity.
