Media notes

NOTES: Two parts, the first recorded about 7:20, the second at 7:37. This cut recorded after playback by Jeremy Minns of prerecorded tape made by Luiz Gonzaga (birds sang only minimally without being provoked); male was well seen, but female was nearby; bird on axis (the male) was five to ten meters away and 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 meters up in scattered, small bushes over scrub of overgrown orchard; bird approached and moved all around us in response to our tape playback; birds were generally rather quiet, even after playback, but eventually began to sing (some song soon after dawn, but little else unsolicited); no additional playback between the two parts of this cut; the male often perched in the open and flicked its wings a bit; I never saw this female; calls are at end of cut; male was in foreground, the female off-axis; scattered, high, thin clouds; calm; mid 70s. LNS note: Recordist use genus name Formicivora. mf. Response to playback: Approach. Response to playback: Different song. Other Behaviors: Mate, Advertise. Habitat: Evergreen Forest, Rural, Orchard, Second-growth, Scrub.
