NOTES: An odd call? This unseen bird was 40 meters away in the mid-levels of tall second-growth (with the trees about 25 meters in height); getting dark at this time; scattered, high, thin clouds; low 80s. Possibly either X. picus, X. obsoletus, or X. ocellatus, but Kevin J. Zimmer suggested Dendrexetastes rufigula as another possibility. In any case, this bird seems to be giving an odd song. Other Behaviors: Dusk Song. Habitat: Rainforest, Evergreen Forest, Second-growth.
