NOTES: Includes 43 songs of dawn chorus; same bird recorded the previous day (98-RDAT08-35), and in same spot as bird recorded the previous season; bird was between 35 and 65 meters from me, though apparently closer during the latter part of the cut, the bird also seemed to be on the back side of the tree at this time; this bird was singing when I arrived at 5:53 am, though it had probably just begun (given that the first bird I heard sing this morning was Dendrocolaptes certhia that began at 5:47 am); this cut begins at 5:59 am; the bird moved after the first song or two, then moved a second and a third time (at least at first, the bird was in almost constant motion); the bird was eventually singing from the top of a really large tree; unseen bird was about 100 meters into the forest on the right (west) side of the road, and it was over flooded igap¿ at first, but spent most of its time in adjacent, terra firme forest; the bird stopped singing at 6:11 am (possibly due to my approach), but then began singing again at 6:13 am from a spot well back into the forest (probably 150 meters away in the direction that it had initially come from); clear, calm, mid 70s. ML: Background subject changed from recordist's original identification of Ramphastos tucanus cuvieri to Ramphastos tucanus to conform to eBird Taxonomy (v. 1.55). -Jay McGowan/Matt Medler, July 2015. ML: Subject changed from recordist's original identification of Xiphorhynchus guttatus guttatoides to Xiphorhynchus guttatus guttatoides/dorbignyanus to conform to eBird Taxonomy (v. 1.55). -Jay McGowan/Matt Medler, July 2015. Other Behaviors: Advertise. Habitat: Rainforest, Evergreen Forest, Edge.
