Observation details
An adult male photographed by Charles Davies. Notice rounded gorget (with no lateral "wings" and mostly dark tail; however, the color of the gorget was not red, but orange-red (not scintillant orange or yellow as in Scintillant Hummingbird neither). We were aware of the presence of Scintillant Hummingbird in the area; in fact, most of the Selasphorus hummingbirds seen certainly were Scintillant Hummingbirds. This bird was studied for long time. The tail pattern was specially checked. The gorget color may match that of Scintillant Hummingbird in a quick google image search; however, mostly dark tail (resembling more that of Volcano Hummingbird) is different to any SCHU.
