Observation details
Latitude:N 38° 50.932635' Longitude:W 77° 1.975928' At the South end of where the airport "jetty" starts from the main land (7:45 AM), I happened across a mixed flock of Starlings. Brown-headed Cowbirds and Barn Swallows. Within this array of birds, I caught some glimpses of a pair of Horned Larks up above me on the "ridge" of the airport that rises above the Potomac water line. Basically this is where there is a road, up top. that is an access way for Emergency and security vehicles to move about. I could only snap a few quick pictures to try to document their appearance. I saw them for only a few seconds before they flew further into the airport runway area. They first caught my eye as I saw some lighter color birds, amongst these darker birds, that just felt different than them being juveniles. I could see, using my camera eye piece, that there was a distinct darker "V" ban above the chest. I watched them long enough to note that it wasn't the wind blowing up some feathers on a jjuvenile Starling to expose darker feather and was able to rule Starlings out. It looks to be a male and female pair from my long distance photos
