Observation details
Large shorebirds with long gray legs and heavy, straight bills. Either non breeding plumage or juvenile birds. White undersides, grayish- light brownish with very subtle detail markings on back and wings. Flew twice, the first time to relocate on the barrier (no calling). The second time to leave the scene (first two notes of call repeated as they took off). Striking black and white wing pattern above and below seen well. This group of birds was apparently there when I arrived, and stayed for about an hour and a half while I was there. Flew off with the four RUTUs toward the beach.
