Observation details
large dark hummingbird with green iridescence on throat, back & sides, distinctive blue-violet auriculars, large blue-violet patch on chest. lower belly and undertail coverts pale grayish with dusky spotting. all-black bill, slightly drooped through its length. large dark tail with square tip. no vocalizations heard from inside the Lowrys' kitchen. probably a subadult male. it was last seen on 28 May.
