Continuation19 Feb. 1972 1013. R-130, engines off now. Signal very good, animal near end of a call, animal within 100 yards at the start of this reel. Snapping shrimp level high. Have on funny pulse, low freq. - some radio comms on start of new dive. Animal is on or about the surface, blowing etc while his call is in progress. A second animal is heard lowing in the background. A distant (fast fluttering) propeller beats may be heard. Motor sailer interference for a short spell. Animal turns away, surfaces, still calls, but gradually we drift away from animal - later signal gets better. Then are some distant knocks, (OSN) ['own ship's noise' 10Oct2003 SAS], about 1" from reel's end, animal surfaces, then dives, starts new call. End time 1055 ship will move up + continue recording."
