Observation details
*Inland state mega; found shortly before by Jim Miles and Lauri Mattle. Tiny tern with dark-tipped yellow bill, yellow legs, relatively long wings, short forked tail. Dwarfed by nearby Caspian Terns and Ring-billed Gulls and much smaller than Common Terns. In flight, rapid wingbeats, distinctive long-winged, small-bodied profile. Apparently second-summer due to mostly adult-like aspect but with more extensively black outer primaries and dusky wing coverts. Photos.
