Media notes
Purple Martins flying into roost a sunset
Observation details
Many thousands of Common Grackles, European Starlings and Purple Martins perched on high voltage power line east of I85. Birds were flying into the scrubby trees next to the north bound on ramp for the interstate. We viewed them from the fence and parking lot of at Jim N Nicks BBQ. Thousands of Martins circled overhead. As the sun went down a spectacular sunset unfolded with the birds streaming into the small trees. We left at 8:40 and there were still many Martins in the sky.
