Observation details
In a particular area where others have reported many species of herons, egrets, and a spoonbill. I was walking across a trail area that separated one pond from another. There was a drainage area that appeared to be under maintenance and had three Tricolored Herons on one side of the trail, two on the other side of the trail next to a new drainage culvert, and one Tricolored Heron in a tree. You could also see other Tricolored Herons across the ponds, but I did not include the in this count. I was using a 400mm lens, and the Tricolored Herons I counted were too close to get more than one in a frame.
