Observation details
Dave Becher initially found these birds and reported 18 of them in breeding plumage. Our first thought was, "WOW!" Adoring Ruddy Turnstones, particularly in breeding plumage, we couldn't help stopping by on our way to a mothing event we were hosting with the naturalist Jamie Hubert at Cuivre River State Park. We counted 20 on the island. At one point, they all took off in flight together and we could verify our count very easily in the photo. In the video, some are hiding behind rocks, so even though we could count them on the little island in Teal, we were never completely sure of our count due to them hiding behind this one big rock you can see in the video until we counted them in the photo.
