Observation details
All photos are the same individual SOSA. It spent over half an hour foraging a short way up Candle Creek. It fastidiously washed everything it caught three or four times. My wife had waded up the creek and saw it at close range, then returned to get me with the camera and I got to photograph it for 26 minutes. The bird walked close to me a few times which I noted later was five short paces away. Normally I would not submit so many photos of one bird, but after taking 280 and having such a variety of good ones, three with interesting reflections, I figured other birders might appreciate them. It was an interesting experience to watch this bird without any fear foraging in the shallows, even though it caused my lunch to grow cold.
