Observation details

Reportedly present for at least a few days, not sure who first discovered it. Foraging in the small stream where it passes under the road - surreal to see in such unremarkable habitat so far out of normal range. Large striking bird with long legs and bill, long wings and very short tail. Bill pale yellow (signifying an immature bird), thick at base, tapering to a point and curving down near the tip. Some blackish color on bill base and face. Head and upper neck brown; otherwise clean white with black flight feathers, primary coverts, and tail.
