Media notes
2nd immature Red-shouldered Hawk was on the nest initially then flew off and returned
Observation details
2 juveniles on the nest, 1 other bird departed after much clamor (I assume this was an adult feeding the young birds which were quiet the rest of the time). One of the juveniles flew from the nest and returned, the second juvenile never left the nest. (initially identified juveniles as Broad-winged Hawk, photos suggest this is possible, but id is challenging with a great deal of similarities and some overlap in features, but later identified by call as Red-shouldered Hawk. Adults didn't return to the nest while I was waiting (tried to conceal my self), so giving greater weight to the safety of the nestlings than the id, I left them alone. A few years ago I searched this area for a Red-shouldered Hawk nest but didn't find one. That year two adult Red-shouldered Hawks were seen flying to this general area 2 or 3 times.)
