Media notes
First set of recordings, made near the west end of the pond. The first segment was recorded from the gravel road. I then moved through the tree line to get closer (ca. 5 m) but my view of the pond was still blocked by a thicket. Because I could not see the birds, the number of individuals was sorely underestimated, based only on individuals that I saw fly into the area.
Observation details
Large flock with some GBHE, LBHE, and SNEG intermingled. They were in a large pond along the north side of the gravel road that runs east-west entering into the conservation area. The long dimension of the pond also runs east-west but the east end of the pond expands towards the north, creating a curved L-shape overall. The length of the pond is more than 1/3 but less than 1/2 of the length of the east-west road, extending from near the first parking area east to the first north-south tree line.
