Observation details
*eBirded as the slash option instead of "Cordilleran Flycatcher" because the presumed male was giving a non-traditional slurred position note and responded only to Pacific-slope Flycatcher playback; a pair; one bird (recorded) giving a slurred, unseparated "male" position note plus a second bird that only gave tink calls and sat on the nest (perhaps the female); one phoebe-like nest with 3+ small chicks found on the side of an outhouse; photos Playback notes: I used playback of Cordilleran and Pacific-slope Flycatchers because I heard this odd position note and wanted to investigate further. I played a separated Cordilleran position note first, and there was no response. Then I played Pacific-slope Flycatcher position notes and the bird flew in and began to call - a combination of tink and slurred position notes like the ones in this recording. After Pacific-slope playback, the bird showed agitated tail-lifting behavior.
