Media notes
Bird was probably about 30-60 feet away, not seen in thick oak canopy. Very noisy park, so in addition to the vireo, this recording has people talking/walking, wind noise, and a whole bunch of other birds including Canada geese, yellow warblers, pied-billed grebes, house finches, Allen's hummingbirds, Nuttall's woodpeckers. The bird is presumably an adult male.
Observation details
Continuing south of the lake. Brief looks around noon, then disappeared until 1:40 pm when it sang for a few minutes. Recording of the song, but could not see the singing bird. I'm pretty sure the song was the same bird (and not another unexpected vireo species). Song sounded to me a little more burry than a Cassin's vireo. I will look at the spectrogram in more detail and upload. Description from brief look for a few seconds: dull yellow head with spectacles (not standing out like the white eyes around), bright yellow throat, whitish belly, wingbars.
