Observation details
Although at first I thought this was a Glaucous-winged Gull (GWGU), certain aspects of the bird point toward "Olympic" hybrid characteristics instead. Although sources state that some GWGU ("less than one percent") can have yellow or "peppered" yellow eyes (as seen in this individual), and that primaries can be a shade darker than mantle in some birds, (also as seen in a new darker-gray primary coming in on this individual) the rest of the primaries look like they were simply too dark originally, before becoming bleached and worn. Pale gray primaries originally matching the mantle would have bleached much paler than that, instead of the rather cocoa-brown tint seen here.
