Media notes

NOTES: I am not 100% confident about the identity of the various drums in this recording. There was one Picoides scalaris in a large sycamore tree, and one Colaptes auratus in the same tree. I had the parabola aimed at the Picoides, but do not specifically remember seeing either bird drum while I was recording (the tree was rather distant). [Based on the duration and pace of these drums, it appears that they may indeed have been given by the Picoides. There is also a single "peek" Call Note given by the Picoides during the announcement (1:03). Quality added (2-1) - CAM - 19 April 2005]. Other Behaviors: Bill Drumming. Habitat: Creek.

Additional species

  • Northern Flicker Colaptes auratus
  • Mourning Dove Zenaida macroura
