Observation details
Two birds in textbook definition of breeding plumage. Red head and breast extending roughly to legs and then white beyond legs. Streaky brown feathering on top of head and extending onto back and and a streaky brown eye stripe, which does not connect to brown on crown or nape. Upper back is streaky, moving into tan-fringed scallops. Slightly smaller than nearby BBPL. Seen about 7.7 miles down the loop, associating with small flock of BBPL.
