Observation details
Slender, gray thrush-like bird perched on a tree branch, panting in the heat. White eye ring, white underside of tail visible, solid gray back and round head. Silent. Ken suggested Townsend’s Solitaire — confirmed when it flew — contrasting Buffy stripe in middle of wing and white outer tail feathers clearly visible. Photos. Spotted in shady area next to rocky cliff at bottom of connector path between Upper Cliffline and Lower Cliffline trails (approx 1 mile from parking area).
