Observation details
A gray-backed ground-dove which struck me as being overall small and short-tailed (even more so than a Ruddy or Common Ground-Dove), flew across a large expanse of marsh and canals to eventually land in the tops of bushes at a great distance (about 100 meters or more). The photo shows an apparently all gray head. I suspect this was a vagrant Plain-breasted Ground-Dove, but the documentation is probably too poor to adequately document that conclusion. Any ground-dove (except Inca Dove) at this location would be unusual.
