Observation details
Flock flying around the lake ahead of the incoming storm front. They circled the lake a couple of times. From a distance I thought maybe they were willets or avocets but when they came closer the curved bill was obvious. I have never seen whimbrels before but looking at the guides, the wing pattern, curved bill, overall size and striped head seem to be whimbrels (and I don't see anything else they could be). You can clearly count 23 in several pictures. There may have been a couple more but since I can see 23 I'm going with that count.
