LNS: The subject of this recording was changed from Anthus spinoletta to A. rubescens to reflect current taxonomy. -Matt Medler, 31 March 2010. [This recording represents a series of many short cuts, most of which contain Song, but with a few "Tail-up" Calls, and one or two "Interception Calls" (based on BNA descriptions). Most of the songs are decapitated. The first part begins with a decapitated Song, but it appears to end with a "Tail-up" Call (0:37-0:42); the second part has one decapitated song; the third part begins with a decapitated "Tail-up" Call at 0:56, but grades into a Song at 0:58 that ends in a stop-start not identified by archivist at 1:03; the fourth part has one decapitated song (1:03-1:22); the fifth and sixth parts each have another decapitated song; the seventh part has what appears to be a complete "Interception Call" (1:50-1:53); the eighth and ninth parts each have a single, decapitated song; the tenth part appears to begin with a "Tail-up" Call, followed by Song (though compelete, the gain was raised in the middle); the rattle calls in the eleventh part are those of either Calcarius lapponicus or Plectrophenax nivalis, not the Anthus, which did give the short series that may have been another "Interception Call" (3:19-3:21).
