NOTES: (Gen. Climate: Dry. Cover Density: Sparse.) Comments on tape by Mike Braun. First, early part of tape is at another location and believed to be same adult or its mate. [The first four parts of this recording highlight the "Chat" and "Hew" calls of Mimus polyglottos (chat - 0:09, 0:26-0:375 (6), 0:41, 0:46, 1:04-1:41 (19); hew - 0:065, 0:12, 0:17, 0:22, 0:255). The fifth part begins with two unequivocal, "whit-wheet" calls by Toxostoma curvirostre at 2:20 and 2:30, but I am unsure about the identity of the bird giving the remaining "plick" calls at 2:165, 2:255, and all 93 calls after 2:38. The description of the site sounds like better habitat for T. bendirei and the description of the "immature" bird closely matches that of bendirei. Without sufficient material available, I cannot be certain that these calls are not those of T. bendirei, but it is possible that they represent the "chirp" call noted for T. curvirostre in BNA account. Quality changed from 3 to 3, 2 (much hiss throughout but signal is better after 4:45) - CAM - 3 November 2005]. Other Behaviors: Care For Young. Habitat: Deciduous Forest, Desert, Scrub.
