NOTES: (Background Sounds: wind; Species Sound: frequent; Breeding Status: not territorial, not breeding?; Behavioral Context: mate contact?, flock conact?; Sound Delivery Rate: low, normal; General Climate: arid; Cover Density: medium; Strata in Habitat: song perch) BNA: Both the male song possibly with mimicry as well as possible Tidilip Calls are heard. CZ 30/07/2004. [I suspect that the vocalizations at the beginning of this recording (0:05-0:14) are homologous to the "vireo" song described in BNA account for C. purpureus, but not for C. cassinii (see also LNS #96373 and #120291). These "songs" are followed by a "tew" call, and then two typical songs, both of which contain elements of mimicry (Passerella iliaca (chink call) and Catharus guttatus (chup-chup) in the first song, and P. iliaca and Turdus migratorius calls in the second song). The second part contains "keeup" and/or "tidilip" calls (0:31-1:19) and "tew" calls (0:39) and the third part has two "tew" calls (1:27, 1:32) and two "tidilip/keeup" calls (1:35, 1:405). Quality added (1-2, 2-3 - much wind/hiss in places) - 4 February 2005]. Other Behaviors: Advertise. Habitat: Forest, Evergreen Forest, Coniferous Forest, Deciduous Forest, Meadow, Stream, Thicket/Brush, Second-growth, Edge.
