Male #1
Detalhes da observação
Diane Weber informed me of a Anna's Hummingbird visiting her feeders, so I couldn't resist a twitch. Initially we heard the scolding, harsh, chips of a Anna's, before I saw an juvenile male come in to the feeder. I snapped some quick pics before it disappeared for about 15 minutes. We saw presumably the same one, come in briefly again and it flew and landed in the middle of a elderberry tree. While we were looking at that male we heard a Anna's scolding once again but from a top a different tree. We looked up and we saw the original juvenile male chirping away. Both had nice small patches of a developing gorget, along with dusky green sides. One had more iridescent patches on its throat than the other, but both bird's patches were too developed to be females. Hearing them immediately made me think of being in CA where they are extremely common. County Lifer!
